The 3 x 10" fully configurable Sailmon MM104 mast mounted instruments were chosen by the owner and project manager of SY FOGGY, a Frers one design 72' day boat built at Brooklin Boat Yard in Maine. The owner was simply looking for the best performing instrument system available and loved the Sailmon technology and the way it displayed the data. As the yacht will be based in California it was also vital that the displays performed really well in bright sunlight.
The complete system was supplied and installed by Winsor 'Kim' Baker at Winsor Consulting through Sailmon's US Distributor Eurotask Ltd. "We had never worked with Sailmon Instruments before so to start with we were naturally a little apprehensive about how it would all work out," commented Kim Baker. "However once we had received the Sailmon MM104's units and the S-Box, we hooked them up to the rest of the system on the bench and everything worked perfectly. The quality of the displays, especially in bright sunlight is exceptional - better than anything I have seen before. We had a few questions regarding set up and configuration and the Sailmon Team provided all the answers very promptly. Once the units were installed and prior to the sea trials, we updated the software which was very straightforward and everyone is delighted with the performance and the way the units look."
Using inputs from on-board sensors and transducers the Sailmon System calculates and displays accurate sets of performance data in a user configurable format. Sailmon uses some unique optical technology not available to other manufacturers and this enables the completely waterproof instruments to be seen in all lighting conditions and from any angle.
The Sailmon System is designed for use with all major Instrument system brands used on modern high tech sailboats today or as a stand-alone system using NMEA2000 capable sensors and transducers. The Sailmon System features 3 main elements
A choice of either the Sailmon MM104 10" which is for mast or bulkhead mounting, or the Sailmon RI70W 7" Ultra Slim instrument ideal for mounting at either the helm console or navigation station. Both units are bright sunlight readable, completely configurable and come in Landscape or Portrait orientation. Integral to each unit is a high performance race computer with grand-prix level software and WiFi access pointThe Sailmon S-Box sensor provides the hub for the Sailmon communication network connecting the NMEA2000, NMEA0183 sensors and enabling input for data from most 3rd party instrument systems such as, B&G, Raymarine, Nexus etc. An Ethernet port is available to connect to the on-board network and to the internet.
