Boats equipped with the d10 from racegeek finished 1st and 10th at the UK J/70 National Championships at the weekend. Supplied to Key Yachting, J Boats exclusive distributor for UK and Ireland by racegeek’s UK and US distributor Eurotask, the d10 was only installed on the boat the day before the start of the Regatta and went straight out onto the race course to win the title.
Mark Lees, owner and helm of “Serious Fun,” the new national champion, said "It was a really competitive event and we only pulled clear with a good final day. I bought a d10 because it just made sense to have a single unit. It's a nice bit of kit. We took it straight out and got it working no problem. We only put the boat together and decided to do the nationals a couple of days before so we’re looking forward to exploring the more in-depth functionality. There are some cool features we haven’t touched yet."
Talking to Mark after the event, he was keen to maximise the benefit of the Tide/Depth and Navigation functions. The Tide/Depth page is particularly useful for racing in the Solent where tidal effects are very often the difference between glory and misery. Racegeek provide regular software updates for existing customers to benefit from the latest enhancements. Coming soon will be their basic analytics package which will enable teams to download their race data and access the post-race analysis feature.
